A Rim lock is a standard lock that can be found fastened to the face of a door, different from the Euro Cylinder which is within the door. Occasionally found with Rim locks are Nightlatches, A nightlatch is mounted onto the door instead of being morticed into it. The size of nightlatch you require is often dependent on whether or not you are fitting it to a panelled door. If you require us to fit a Nightlatch also please be aware this is an additional charge of £20
A Euro Cylinder forms an integral part of many types of locks including multi-point locks used on UPVC (Double-Glazing) doors and some mortice locks used on timber doors.
Euro cylinders can be easily replaced and changing the cylinder is an easy way to 'change the locks'. A Euro Cylinder lock is found to be in bedded within the door frame rather than just on the surface of the door and are used more frequent to this date as are classed as high security locks.
A Mortice Lock, also known as a Chubb lock is one that requires a pocket—the mortise—to be cut into the door or piece of furniture into which the lock is to be fitted. It is important that you know the size of your existing lock to ensure that your new lock will fit into the same hole. Mortice locks are available in sashlock or deadlock variants, so it is important that you know which one you require.
